European Super Bantamweight Champion, Willie "Big Bang" Casey has landed a dream fight with WBA Interim-World Champion Guillermo Rigondeaux. The fight has been tentatively scheduled for March 2011 at the Citywest Event Centre, Dublin, Ireland. After weeks of rumours and speculation Dolphil Promotions have announced a deal was reached, giving Casey a shot at the World Title after only 11 pro fights.

Willie "Big Bang" Casey won the vacant EBU European Super Bantamweight Championship Saturday evening, with a forth round technical knockout over fellow Irishman Paul Hyland. The Limerick-based Casey (11-0, 7KO), took the fight to Hyland almost from the off, imposing his will on the more experienced Dublin man and forcing referee John Keane to stop the action two minutes, nine seconds into the round - with Hyland failing to answer a series of hard shots from Casey.

On Feb. 19, Bernard Dunne announced his retirement and by default Paul Hyland, at the time 16-1, became Ireland’s number one super bantamweight. His closest challengers for the position, Carl Frampton and Willie Casey were both 4-0. Eight months later and Carl Frampton has extended his record to 7-0 by dispatching of a three-time European title challenger with surprising ease within three rounds.
