Anthony Fitzgerald vs Robbie Long: Act II

Wednesday October 21st, 2009
by Irish Paddy Cronan, - OnThEGRiND BoXiNG Ireland

Dr. Pietro Baio knows what it takes in order for a champion boxer to win a high stakes fight. Baio, or “Dr. B” as he is affectionately known, is used by many of the top pros in New York City, and is very well respected in the boxing community. He, like many others believes boxing is 80% mental and 20% physical. I for one, also subscribe to this theory.

Although Fitzgerald has bounced back well from his second loss, notching up another three wins, I feel there will be a nagging question in the back of his mind. That being said, I expect Fitzgerald’s pride to launch him to another level, as he asks some of the same questions that he put to Long in the early goings of their January battle. One thing is for sure, both fighters will need to be in their career best, condition as neither has the experience of an 8 round contest under their belt yet. If the fight turns into the brawl that I expect, it may very well turn out to be the better conditioned fighter who comes away with the win. Read more »

Revealing New Documentary Features Muhammad Ali’s Last Interviews

One day Craig Glazer was serving hard time in a federal penitentiary. Two days later he was producing Champions Forever, one of the most acclaimed and best-selling sports documentaries ever made. But, for nearly 20 years since the film’s premiere, some of the most revealing interviews with Muhammad Ali-including the champ shockingly proclaiming, “I never said I was the greatest” -laid in a vault.

Now, Glazer is finally making Ali’s last known meaningful interviews available to the public on Champions Forever: Ali - The Lost Interviews (Image Entertainment), released October 20, 2009. As Ali’s debilitating illness has grown, those interviews, in which he talks about his fights both in and out of the ring as well as the purpose of his life and the end of his life, about immortality and how he wants to be remembered, have become rare and historic.
