Bring Back Bunce
Boxing fans, fighters and financers have joined forces in a bid to bring back one of international sports most respected and revered shows, Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour.
The world’s premier pugilist program suffered a heavy blow with the recent demise of Setanta Sports. The boxing community, however has come together to ensure Buncey and his team are only flirting temporarily with the canvas and will survive the count to live to fight another day.
A Bring Back Buncey campaign has been launched in a bid to get the show, which feeds hungry boxing fans a stream of hard hitting, honest and exciting boxing news back on the air.
And within 24 hours of its launch thousands fans have joined the campaign, hundreds have signed the online petition and some of boxing biggest names are clambering to lend their support.
Don King, one the most famous names in the pugilist business was quick to get involved, claiming its essential Buncey gets a platform from which deliver his non biased and entertaining brand of news.
“The Steve Bunce show is very illuminating and we can’t afford to lose him. We need more people like him to get the news out and let everyone know what’s going on,” King explained.
Fan of the show and WBC Super Middleweight king Carl ‘The Cobra” Froch was also disappointed to hear the show is off air.
“It’s a big loss for British boxing and it’s a real shame that the B ritish fans are not able to get their weekly update.”
WBU featherweight champion, Choi Tseveenpurev and Wayne Alexander the European light middleweight champion and World Boxing Union light middleweight champion amongst others have also called for another TV station to take the popular show.
While support has also come in from British Flyweight Champion and world title challenger Micky Cantwell, Irish boxing promoter Tommy Egan, Super middleweight prospect George Groves, German boxing manager Kalle Sauerland and British Promoter Frank Maloney.
“The boxing hour has given so much to me when it has been on the air. This campaign to save it is my way of giving something back to the people who have given me so much,” said Stewart Longcount the man who launched the Bring Back Buncey campaign.
