Worlds Collide: $175,000 Boxing and MMA Tournament
Primm, Nev. – Primm Valley Casino Resorts and Roy Englebrecht Events welcome back Worlds Collide, an action-packed boxing and mixed martial arts tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13 in the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino. “We are thrilled to deliver another exciting night of boxing and mixed martial arts,” said president of Worlds Collide Fights, LLC and boxing world champion Fernando Vargas. “The fights continue to escalate as we enter our third quarterfinal round at Stateline.”
The nine bout show marks the final quarterfinal round of this unique fight promotion, integrating professional boxing and mixed martial arts on the same night in the same ring. The event will feature five different weight divisions with seven boxers and fighters from Las Vegas. The two semi final shows are set for Aug. 22 and Oct. 17, and the Worlds Collide Championship is Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 in the Star of the Desert Arena.
The event features MMA Warriors Robert Otani (1-2) fighting Huntington Beach native Walter Roberto (3-4). Titus Homes (0-3) from Las Vegas will go head to head with John Merkle (2-1) from Los Angeles. Also from Las Vegas, David Smith (1-0) will fight Yosuke Koreeda (1-1) from Irvine, Calif. Nick Reale (5-1) from Lake Forest, Calif., will take on Leonardo Soares (3-4) from Los Angeles. From Las Vegas, Danny Davis’ (1-0) opponent has yet to be announced.
Boxing in four-round bouts from Las Vegas is Herman Scott (1-1) matched up against Angel Osuna from Coachella, Calif. (2-1-1); Martinez Porter from Las Vegas makes his debut against Victor Medina (0-1) from Los Angeles. Also from Las Vegas, Deth Marcus Hall steps into the ring for the first time fighting Eduardo Herrera (0-1) from Bakersfield. Adrian Tait from Quartz Hill, Calif., (2-1) will take on Jose Sanchez (1-0) from Santa Ana, Calif.
