By Alex McIntyre - OnThEGRiND BoXiNG Scotland

Willie Limond takes on Englishman Ryan Barrett for the Vacant WBU Lightweight Title on Friday 29th May at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow. Limond who has taken to self promoting his fights has a 31(8)-2 record with the only glitches on his record coming against Amir Khan and Alex Arthur.

The defeat against Khan was especially heartbreaking for Willie, after downing Khan in the sixth, Limond looked to be on his way to derailing the dreams of the much hyped Bolton star.
Khan was seriously hurt for the first time in his short career and desperately clung on trying to weather the storm. Somehow Khan managed to survive the round but Limond suffered a badly broken jaw in the following round leaving his team no option but to pull him out at the conclusion of the eighth, with his face a bloody mess having also suffered a broken nose.

Barrett, himself a victim to the Amir Khan roadshow was originally deemed too expensive an option but with stand in Lee Cook pulling out just three weeks before the fight, Barrett finds himself once again back in the fold.
