Olympic Boxing Hopefuls in Three Nation Championships
Top boxers from England, Scotland and Wales will go head-to-head in Liverpool as the three nations seek to identify the future Olympic stars of London 2012.
The British Amateur Boxing Association’s first ever Championships will be held at the Liverpool Olympia on Friday May 29th, with box-offs taking place on Thursday May 28th.
And the prestigious event has huge significance this year for the national champions of England, Scotland and Wales as it will act as a qualifier for the next World Championships. Read more »

After unsuccessfully trying to get into the Mayweather vs. Marquez press conference on Tuesday May 19th, 2009 (next time Timmy can show me how its done) following a mix up, I joined the massive number of fans outside the Empire State Building in New York City waiting for the boxers to arrive. Unable to snap any photos of Juan because of how quickly he made his way toward the building, I stood in wait for Floyd Maweather Jr., and as two Hummers pulled up on the side, Hundreds of fans started rushing the vehicles, not even giving Floyd a chance to step out. Willie Limond takes on Englishman Ryan Barrett for the Vacant WBU Lightweight Title on Friday 29th May at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow. Limond who has taken to self promoting his fights has a 31(8)-2 record with the only glitches on his record coming against Amir Khan and Alex Arthur.
The defeat against Khan was especially heartbreaking for Willie, after downing Khan in the sixth, Limond looked to be on his way to derailing the dreams of the much hyped Bolton star.
Khan was seriously hurt for the first time in his short career and desperately clung on trying to weather the storm. Somehow Khan managed to survive the round but Limond suffered a badly broken jaw in the following round leaving his team no option but to pull him out at the conclusion of the eighth, with his face a bloody mess having also suffered a broken nose.
