TKO World Championship Boxing at Pala Casino Spa & Resort August 22nd

Middleweight World Title Bout Headlines Outstanding Prospects on Undercard
PALA, CALIF

Headlining the inaugural “TKO World Championship Boxing at Pala Casino” event will be an I.B.O. Junior Middleweight World Title bout between world ranked contenders Zaurebek Baysangurov of Chechnya and Grady Brewer, winner of ESPN’s The Contender, Season Two.

Twenty-four-year-old Baysangurov, 20-1-0 with fifteen knockouts, is a former European Junior Middleweight Champion. Now based in Los Angeles, the heavy handed Baysangurov is looking to kick off his U.S. debut with a stellar performance. Read more »

Controversial Decisions, Bad Referees…Corruption Strikes Again!!!

Another controversy is brewing in the boxing world following this past weekend’s fights, with referees once again landing in the spotlight. Irish and Polish fans are united in their anger as their boys look to be on the wrong end of some desperate officiating. As the boxing fan well knows, taking on the job of a boxing referee is not the easiest of jobs in the sports world. Boxers lives can be on the line and the third man in the ring has the unenviable task of keeping the crowd happy, keeping the fight flowing, and most importantly keeping the fighters safe and able to fight another day.This weekend those very important tasks were trusted to English refs Ian John-Lewis and Dave Parris, and the aftermath of their performances in the ring continues to spark debate. Andre Ward-Edison Miranda
Saturday night proved to be Andre Ward’s coming out party. The young prospect controlled the action and dominated the very powerful veteran Edison Miranda. Miranda had trouble landing any power shots, but what he did land Ward took very well. Ward also overcame an early cut due to an unintentional (or knowing Miranda an intentional) headbutt.
