Ricky Hatton is still milling over the future of his career, and rightfully so. It hasn’t even been a week since his brutal stoppage loss to P4P King Manny Pacquiao, yet everyday another story surfaces stating that he still doesn’t know what he is going to do. We still don’t know what Hatton intends to do, and we assume he doesn’t either so at OnThEGRiND BoXiNG we are going to show that we can go a single day without asking him or his team what they plan on doing. Let’s instead look at another fighter who’s been knocking on Hatton’s door.
The other fighter who’s future is somewhat uncertain in the aftermath of Pacquiao-Hatton, is Australian star Michael Katsidis. Brendon Smith the trainer of Katsidis, told reporter Adrian Warren that he had been in talks with Hatton’s team prior to last weekend’s super fight.
Katsidis and his team along with the multitude of Hitman fans await Ricky’s decision, and are hopeful that Ricky will attempt to give them a final attempt at victory rather than go out permanently the way he did in Las Vegas. Surely the people of Manchester would like to remove the vivid image from their mind’s eye that saw Ricky stretched out across the canvas in what was a frantic moment of uncertainty for the Hatton faithful. Will “The Hitman” grant their wishes, and allow them to witness their song inspiring fighter with hands stretched over head in triumph once more? Should he even step in the ring again? Oscar De la Hoya (his promoter) is on record already as saying so.
“I believe it’s still a very good chance of happening. Knowing Ricky, I don’t think he would want to finish his career like that,” said Smith.
About facing Ricky in his hometown…”We are not concerned about going to Ricky Hatton’s backyard because we’ve taken our show on the road for the last two years. Michael has a fan base all over the world, ” said Smith.
