Calzaghe on Carl Froch: “He doesn’t seem to realize that holding your hands up and defending yourself is a pretty vital part of boxing.”

All the loyal OtG BoXiNG Family checking for their world boxing headlines from OtG’s outstanding sidebar content should be aware of Carl Froch’s constant stalking of Joe Calzaghe in the press.

Joe is about at the end of his rope, and has grown tired of seeing his name in headlines with Carl Froch (sorry Joe, we are guilty too).

Among Joe’s recent comments about Froch is this gem, “He doesn’t seem to realize that holding your hands up and defending yourself is a pretty vital part of boxing.”

For more of Joe putting Froch in his place, check the Sky sidebar right here at OtG (use the right click).

[Note to lazy boxing fans: If you don't want to check on the content from the source I can think of a couple of websites off the top of my head who's editor is using a different name and rewriting Sky's content. OtG goes to the source. We are holding down the UK with people actually in the UK covering the scene. We are not 1 Polish guy in America pretending to be an Englishman in Europe. OtG is Worldwide. We ain't lyin'. Chuck a deuce.]

Team Manfredo Entry for KO of the Year

Peter Manfredo Jr. had plans for a great ‘09. Getting back on track with this brutal knock out of Walid Smichet, Peter’s next course of action was putting Ireland’s John Duddy inside his crosshairs. Unfortunately for Manfredo, Duddy ran into Billy Lyell last weekend.

When Manfredo appears OnThEGRiND this Thursday night the Team will get the scoop on what’s ahead, and try to find out who he would like to “Smichet” next. That is French for getting KTFO, right ?

In the aftermath of Billy Lyell’s stunning victory over Ireland’s John Duddy, OnThEGRiND BoXiNG’s own Irish Paddy Cronan felt he had to clear the air with Lyell. Prior to Lyell defeating Duddy, many considered Billy the proverbial “opponent.” Paddy Cronan counted himself among these fans and decided to eat his crow by phone as he talked to Lyell via long distance provider.

During the course of their conversation Paddy was able to ask Lyell the question Duddy fans everywhere are wondering, “Will you rematch John Duddy in Ireland?” Read more »

OtG 365: Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 Watch…Freddie Roach

Tuesday April 28th, 2009
by Jesse Rican

Here at Www.OnThEGRiNDBoXiNG.coM , we are doing our own sidebar into HBO’s Ricky Hatton vs Manny Pacquiao 24/7. As we started off with a brief look at Floyd Mayweather Sr., the only logical thing to do is to consider the accomplishments of Freddie Roach. First off I would just like to state that Freddie is a stand up guy and having him grace us with his presence at OnThEGRiND BoXiNG RaDIo was a pleasure and an honor. I however continue to be confident, that Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton will come out on top over Manny Pacquiao this weekend. With that being said let’s take an abbreviated look at Freddie’s story.

As most should know, Freddie Roach was a boxer himself retiring with a 39-13 record, fighting such greats of his day as Hector “Macho” Camacho and Bobby Chacon. Read more »
