Beating the best fighters in the world leads to respect, glory and often most importantly, personal satisfaction. Without question, defeating elite fighters is the ultimate accomplishment for a boxer. World rated Cruiserweight Bobby Gunn has been impatiently awaiting this type of opportunity since his controversial fight with Enzo Maccarinelli in 2007. Gunn, 21-3-1 (18 KO’s) who is the current WBA-NABA and WBC-USNBC Cruiserweight title holder, issued a challenge to Tomasz Adamek last night in Newark.
Gunn ran into Adamek as the two were entering the Prudential Center for a John Duddy headlined card and once again made the recognized Cruiserweight champion aware of his desire to fight him, in a bout Gunn would bill as “The Garden State War”.
“This would be a great fight for the State of New Jersey and the Cruiserweight division”, said Gunn who lives less than ten miles from the arena. “Tomasz is extremely popular here and I have good following in the Northeast so the Prudential Center would be packed without a doubt.”
With a July return tentatively scheduled for Adamek and no opponent penciled in, Gunn feels he is the perfect candidate to challenge the best Cruiserweight in the world.
“This would be an old fashioned blood and guts war.” “A match up with two hard hitting warriors like us can only make for a good fight. The Polish media have already mentioned me as an opponent and I am willing to step up, believe me.”
