Results from Krefeld, Germany: Sturm TKO7 Sato, Balzsay KO11 Masoe
Saturday, April 25th 2009
by Nino Celic - OtG Europe
In front of a sold out crowd in Krefeld, Germany WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm defended his title for the sixth time in an uncompetitive fight.
Like anticipated before, Sato proved to be an unworthy challenger, finding himself to be completely outclassed by an opponent who was two classes above. From the first round on Sturm landed his best punch, the jab, at will. In round three Sato’s face was already marked, his right eye beginning to close. Sato showed very bad reflexes and footwork, throwing occasional flurries which were easily absorbed by Sturm’s tight guard. Sturm only threw one or two straight rights per round (which found their target every time), being very conservative with his punches. From round five on Sato started to look discouraged, bleeding from his mouth and almost not being able to see with his right eye. Read more »

Carl The Cobra Froch vs Bad Intentions: Jermain Taylor’s Tide Comes In
Saturday, April 25th 2009
by John Gendron
The past four years of Jermain Taylor’s career have moved like a slow ebbing tide. Following consecutive victories in 2005 and 2006 over Bernard Hopkins—whose then 13-year undefeated streak encompassed a record-tying 20 title defenses—Taylor had been on the threshold of transcending the sport. I can recall the intrigue of casual (at best) boxing fans he evoked after deposing the historic champion. But, it wasn’t to be, and the Hopkins victories remain the high water mark of a once so promising career. Tonight’s championship bout with WBC Super Middleweight titlist Carl Froch should be a stark indicator of where Taylor’s tide flows from here. Read more »

Taylor. Carl Fronch is an overrated egotist, who is above being a boxing fan. Well, I am a boxing fan, and I know that Cory Spinks and Bernard Hopkins would both school this overhyped Euro and that he wouldnt last 6 rounds with a pissed off Pavlik. Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor beats this guy on experience alone. I wont mention his advantages in handspeed, footwork, technique, POWER or reach. Jermain is a pissed off Razorback, who is going to do to Froch what the Wild Boars in “Hannibal” did to the paralyzed man who wanted revenge on Dr. Lecter.

Malignaggi UD. Malignaggi showed his heart in the Hatton fight. I talked some smack about him on the East, but this kid is a warrior at heart, and he has a great personality for the sport, an Italian Camacho.

Ireland’s John Duddy Beaten But Not Broken
Saturday, April 25th 2009
by Irish Paddy Cronan
Mere hours after John Duddy’s loss I sit awake pondering what the future has in store for my favorite boxer. Many options have crossed my mind. Perhaps he will come home and aim for a European title shot and work his way back up the rankings. Perhaps he will stay in America and try to rebuild. One thing is clear to me, Duddy MUST avenge the loss suffered to Billy Lyell. I believed that Duddy was a better boxer before the fight and I still believe that now.
Unfortunately I have yet to see the fight, but the result tells its own story, Duddy was out boxed by Lyell. I congratulate Billy on this victory. He was a very likable guy when speaking to him, so much so that I got the impression that he was not up for this fight. I was wrong and I have no problem admitting that. Read more »
OtG’s Man in the Club Gets at Floyd Mayweather Jr….well, kind of.
Saturday, April 25th 2009
by Suge Green
While the battle for the vacant IBF Light Middleweight Championship of the World was taking place last night between DeAndre “The Bull” Latimore and Cory “Next Generation” Spinks, boxing’s pound for pound champion emeritus Floyd Mayweather Jr. was battling the house. The house at The Palms that is.
As many who follow the sport of boxing closely know, most boxing information outlets are simply one or two guys rewriting the sport’s news using a handful of names in an attempt to make it appear as thought all of the boxing world’s news falls under their own umbrella (to the ill informed)…not OnThEGRiND BoXiNG.

Spinks SD Latimore: New Light Middleweight Champion Calls Out Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In a hell of a battle in St. Louis, Cory Spinks narrowly came out on top against the young and hungry Deandre Latimore. Spinks barely edged it out on the judges cards in what was a toughly contested battle from the opening to closing bells.
The Capo Di Tuti Afro himself Don King, then turned the post fight festivities into an infomercial for Cory “Next Generation” Spinks vs Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. This may be a possibility as rumors are circulating that have King making a play for Mayweather…but you know what they say about rumors.
