Presscot Picks 2: Arreola vs McCline & Williams vs Wright

Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola vs Jameel “Big Time” McCline

It seems to me that Chris Arreola, “The Heavyweight Johnny Tapia, ” is on his way up…while lately, Jameel “Big Time” Mccline seems to be on the decline. This is definitely a crossroads fight for both contenders.

If McCline loses at this point, he becomes a “gate keeper” type fighter, a measuring stick for young “up and coming” heavyweights. If Arreola loses he is a product of pure hype, as everyone thought when he took a knee against T-Rexx. Jameel McCline has had his chances against the big time Titleholders before, and has come up short. While Arreola seemed a little too heavy at 246lbs his last time out, to be effective past the 6th round.

Chris Arreola certainly has a boatload of charisma that is sorely lacking at this point in the heavyweight division, where the Titleholders ranked numbers 1 and 2 in the World, are as exciting to watch perhaps as observing two common houseflies mating.

No one likes a safety first heavyweight. This is perhaps part of the reason, why in this day and age, the “heavyweight champion” is fighting on ESPN instead of HBO-PPV.

In this writer’s opinion, Chris Arreola, the WBC Continental America’s and NABF Heavyweight Champion, knows he is on the verge of a run against the “double headed dragon” from the Ukraine. All he has to do is win on Saturday, look good doing so…and sign away his next 4 fights to the brothers sponsored by BOSS.

Arreola TKO9 McCline via Mercy Stoppage, with Arreola drinking a cold one afterwards a/la Stone Cold Steve Austin to the horror of the HBO Cameras.

Paul “The Punisher” Williams vs Winky Wright

This is Paul Williams coming out party.

Winky Wright has had his moments in the sun against both “Sugar” Shane Mosley and Felix “Tito” Trinidad, the two fights he basically primed out in. Then the travesty occurred against Bernard Hopkins, in what was perhaps the hardest fight to watch in Boxing History, and a probable cure for insomnia.

Paul Williams has already showed the Earth what he is capable of when he let Margarito know who the real sheriff in town was all along, and relieved him of the WBO Title in that division. Now “The Punisher” has added some pounds, and when he knocks out and retires Winky Wright on Saturday Night a certain fighter from Youngstown, Ohio is going to curse the gods.
Williams KO11 Wright, with Winky announcing retirement afterward.

  1. It’s about time somebody doesn’t make it sound like a crime to believe in young Chris.
