Scottish Middleweight Craig McEwan looks set to return to action on July 23, against Danny Perez at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif. The Edinburgh native, who is currently back home training at his father's Clovenstone Gym, intends to return to West Hollywood to hook up once again with his now-legendary trainer Freddie Roach.
After eighteen successive wins on American soil, the undefeated McEwan has seen plans to make his long awaited U.K. debut put on hold. A slot on the Hatton Promotions show in Bolton against Martin Murray for the vacant Commonwealth Championship has been pulled, and McEwan will now face Perez instead.
Perez (34-7, 17 KO) is coming off a loss to Cuban prospect Erislandy Lara, and while he's seen better days he might still provide McEwan with a reasonable test. Despite seven loses on his record, he's never been stopped, and he's mixed it with some high-quality opposition over the years. One of Perez' signature performances came when he dropped Antonio Margarito, en route to a split decision loss in the first of his two encounters with the Tijuana Tornado.
There seems to be a slight air of "old school" about McEwan. He's been quietly going about his business with minimal fuss while slowly learning his trade. So far he hasn't been rushed or over-matched in his early-development, as we have seen in the past with some Golden Boy fighters. A good performance against Perez however will be another firm step forward for McEwan in his attempt to become Scotland's first Middleweight Champion of the World.

cant wait to see more of him - have only seen a few minutes of him in the ring and he appears to have some great skill
Can get where McCormack and Gilroy failed.
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of him for sure. Good fighter, i'd just like to see his conditioning a little better..... or maybe thats just me.
