Rabbit Punches Volume I: 20 Quick Hits While The Ref Isn’t Looking…!!!

Count this writer as one who was completely impressed with how Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked against the clearly smaller, but game Juan Manuel Marquez. One thing though, do you think Marquez is more bummed out about getting outclassed or about the fact that he drank his piss and still lost? If it was me, it’s clearly option 2.
…and has anyone ever seen someone get so much flack for basically shutting out the consensus number 2 pound for pound fighter in the world?
You can call it disrespectful if you want, but Shane Mosley climbing into the ring and publicly calling out Floyd was not only genius but also might have finally worked. Last time I saw Mayweather that wound up, Brian Kenney was calling him out on ESPN! Shane has been trying to make this fight happen for a very long time; hopefully Floyd wants it as well now.
Maybe it’s just me, but is sparring with an old, shot Jose Luis Castillo really the best way to get ready for a fight with Miguel Cotto?
…and speaking of Pacman’s camp, can someone please tell Mr. Roach these four simple words…”Less talking, more training!”?
I know Enrique Ornelas isn’t Chad Dawson, but after fighting Taylor, Tarver, Wright, Calzaghe and Pavlik in succession, Bernard Hopkins could fight my mother on PPV. He deserves the easy tune up.
…and is anyone else worried Danny Green is gonna ruin the chances of the big rematch happening anyway?
You know, I hate the word “ducker” almost as much as I hate the word “exposed,” but Juanma Lopez is clearly doing just that to Caballero. I can’t figure out why, this writer, like most out there believes it’s a fight he would win.
Speaking of “exposed,” it may be the best way to describe watching Golden Boy’s newest Golden Boy getting rocked by relatively unknown Juan Carlos Salgado in his first fight since signing with the mega-promoters. How do you say OUCH in Japanese?
ITAI!!!!!
Izzy Vazquez may have gotten the W, but seeing him struggle with a fighter he previously would have destroyed was tough to watch.
So, Joshua Clottey claims he is being ducked by most of the top fighters out there? Although, Joshua Clottey also would rather fight Carlos Quintana over an actual title shot against a much tougher, much better Sergio Martinez. Makes sense…I guess?
Adamek vs. Golota? Is anyone outside of Poland actually excited about this fight?
Vitali’s destruction of Arreola just proves that yet again, one brother will always take out the fighter that has the best chance to beat the other one. Someone needs to get a woman to break these two up, because the only fight worth paying for north of 205 involves a sibling rivalry.
If Kevin Johnson never pulled out of his fight vs. Odlanier Solis this past weekend, I have a feeling that the tremendously overweight former Cuban gold medalist’s rise might have been halted by the Kingpin.
Ok, I am officially a big fan of Antwone Smith, twice the “opponent” on FNF, twice ended up as the spoiler; it seems he is finally getting the push behind him he deserves. Good young fighter, great attitude, earned everything he has achieved.
I can honestly say that I am more excited about HBO’s December 5th fight between MW champ Kelly Pavlik and JMW champ Paul Williams, than I am about any upcoming PPV fight. Is that a good thing???
With the Super 6 tournament fast approaching, I gotta say, Mikkel Kessler has without a doubt the number 1, best looking tattoo in boxing…with Edwin Valero’s coming in a close 1746th.

PUT YOUR SHIRT BACK ON PLEASE!!!
I keep asking myself how well Joe Calzaghe would do in the Super 6, but then I keep getting brought crashing back down to earth when I realize that there’s no way Frank Warren would’ve ever allowed him to enter into it anyway.
About the tourney, am I the only one who can see 6 different winners in the first three fights? Abraham could stop Taylor, but he isn’t out boxing him, Froch could end Dirrell’s night early, but I can’t see him winning on the cards and to me Kessler vs. Ward is a tough, close fight to call. Anyway, regardless of who wins, we all do in the end. KUDOS again Showtime!!!
Finally, if anyone hasn’t checked out the wonderful work of Howard Schatz with the Super 6 participants do yourself a favor and do so. Simply amazing.
RING THE BELL!!!
