Results: Manfredo Stops Smichet in 7th…Calls Out Ireland’s John Duddy

April 18, 2009
MONTREAL

Former world title challenger Peter Manfredo, Jr. knocked out tough Tunisian veteran Walid “Tempete de Sable” Smichet in the seventh round of today’s scheduled 10-round co-feature at Montreal Casino

The 28-year-old Manfredo (32-6, 16 KOs), star of The Contender, Season I, got his career back on the right track with a strong performance against Smichet (20-6-3, 14 KOs), who had been knocked out only once in 28 prior pro fights, by Renan St. Juste in 2006. Manfredo accomplished what neither unbeaten world title contender John Duddy nor Canadian middleweight champion Sebastien Demers had been able to do in their 10 and 12 round fights, respectively, against Smichet. OtG 365: Pacquiao-Hatton 24/7 Watch…Floyd Mayweather Sr.

Saturday April 18th, 2009
by Jesse Rican

Here at Www.OnThEGRiNDBoXiNG.coM we’ve decided to do our own 24/7 watch, the 1st installment in the series focuses on Floyd “Joy” Mayweather Sr.

“I think I can save Ricky’s life.” Is this simply a boast easily dismissed as an exaggeration?

Not if Hatton’s life is boxing, which it is…and what a job the best trainer in the world has done with Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton.

Floyd Sr., with his own professional Record of 29-6 (losing his last three matches), and sharing the ring with such greats as Sugar Ray Leonard, proved himself to be a solid boxer in his day. His career came to an end abruptly when he caught a bullet in the leg courtesy of his brother in-law (wow, talk about dysfunctional family). Read more »
